Overview
The Curonian Spit is a 98 km long and 0.4-4 km wide sand peninsula that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. This unique UNESCO World Heritage Site is a fragile, peaceful ecosystem of pine groves and dunes that offers something for everyone. The pine forests are populated by deer, elk, and wild boar and cover about 70% of the area. Only a fraction is urban – like the fishing villages of Nida, Juodkrantė, Pervalka, and Preila.
The Curonian Spit is easily walkable; there is plenty of forest, sand and fresh air and no high altitudes. Experience the calm wilderness and reconnect with nature in this fascinating corner of Lithuania, hike the dunes and recharge.
