Overview
A seven day, self-guided walking holiday on a section of the Michinoku Coastal Trail, starting in Hachinohe and ending in Morioka. Located on Honshu Island, this trail was created as a sustainable walking tour that supports and links small communities that were badly hit by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The trail represents recovery and renewal, and takes you along the colossal seascapes of the Sanriku Coast. This is a reinvigorating and insightful journey along coastal gems such as Jōdogahama Beach or Cape Kitayamazaki, through coastal forests and to ancient shrines and sacred viewpoints like Kabushima Shrine. Much of which is protected by Sanriku Fukko National Park, also founded in 2013 to contribute to the reconstruction of the region.
