They are a place to fully immerse yourself in nature and take in awe-inspiring landscapes and seascapes. Feel the wind in your hair, see colourful villages, grazing sheep, green mountains, mysterious fog and the nearby islands, which rise majestically on the horizon. This fly & drive adventure break will give you the possibility to explore some of the highlights of these enchanting islands, eventually combining it with a trip to Iceland or Denmark.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in the Faroe Islands. Visit Gásadalur

Upon arrival at Vágar Airport in the Faroe Islands pick up your rental car. Before leaving the island of Vágoy, we suggest a visit to the small village of Gásadalur. In Gásadalur you can walk on the marked nature trail, enjoy the impressive view over Tindhólmur, and see the beautiful waterfall. Leave Vágoy via the sub-sea to tunnel to Streymoy and drive along the coast, through colourful villages and crossing the bridge to the island of Eysturoy, where you will overnight.

Day 2: Gjógv

Drive towards the village of Eiði as you take the panoramic route to Gjógv. En route, you will see the rock formations, Giant and the Witch and the highest mountain, Slættaratindur at 882 m. Take time to enjoy Gjógv, known for its natural harbour, and a must-see when visiting the Faroe Islands. Walk around in the magnificent nature and relax on Crown Princess Mary´s bench with breathtaking views of the nearby islands.

Day 3: Tórshavn

Check out from your accommodation and drive to the capital, Tórshavn. Explore the old part of Tórshavn, Reyn and Tinganes. When you enter the old town, you will find yourself in a labyrinth of lanes and narrow passages, steps and rocks and tiny black-tarred houses – a genuine town from the Middle Ages. This area is unique not only in the Faroes but in the entire world. Visit the village of Kirkjubøur, which is the Faroe Islands’ historical and cultural centre. The picturesque old farm is home to a family who for 17 generations have run the farmstead. See the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St. Olav. The evening is at your own leisure. You will find various restaurants and cafés where you can have excellent food.

Day 4: Departure

Check out from accommodation. Drive to Vágar Airport and return the rental car.
