Overview
The Faroe archipelago comprises 18 volcanic islands, occupying a patch of the Norwegian Sea halfway between Scotland and Iceland. They are a place to fully immerse yourself in nature and take in awe-inspiring landscapes and seascapes. Feel the wind in your hair, see colourful villages, grazing sheep, green mountains, mysterious fog and the nearby islands, which rise majestically on the horizon. The itinerary includes a hike to Slættaratindur, the archipelago’s highest peak (882m).
During the walks on this itinerary, you will be led by an experienced local guide and will have the opportunity to explore the archipelago on your own by car. Please note that local authorities have recently implemented tight restrictions regarding access to the hiking areas, and on most trails, it is now mandatory to be accompanied by a local guide.
- Gásadalur, located on the edge of Mykinesfjørður
- Slættaratindur – the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands
- Tjørnuvík – the northernmost village on Streymoy
- Vestmanna Bird Cliffs – the 700m high cliffs provide safe nesting places for puffins, razorbills, guillemots and fulmars
- Mykines – Faroe’s most westerly outpost
