Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Lübeck

Your tour starts in an old and gracious Hanseatic town, recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 1987. Stroll the streets lined with medieval merchants’ homes and spired churches forming Lübeck’s ‘crown’. Bite into a yummy fish roll to start your holiday mood!

Day 2: Lübeck – Hohen Schönberg | 20 km + Boat

After breakfast, start the day with a boat trip on the Trave to Travemünde. Visit Germany‘s oldest lighthouse before continuing along the Baltic Coast through Brooker Wald nature reserve to Boltenhagen. Cycling through the Brooker Wald nature reserve, you soon reach Boltenhagen, the second oldest seaside resort in Mecklenburg, where you can look over the entire bay from the cliffs. Overnight in Hohen Schönberg.

Day 3: Day on the beach in Boltenhagen | 20 km

The Baltic spa resort of Boltenhagen is known for its 5 km long sandy beach – the whole family will enjoy it. Why not hop straight into the water? If you spent the night in Hohen Schönberg, it‘s only a short cycle trip of approx. 10 km to Boltenhagen. If you prefer more cultural entertainment, we can recommend visiting Bothmer Castle in Klütz. The Baroque castle with the wonderful Feston avenue leading up to it is quite spectacular and a great photo opportunity.

Day 4: Boltenhagen – Wismar | 30-45 km

You continue, mostly along the coast, to the old Hanseatic town of Wismar. From here we recommend a short trip to Poel island to explore its long sandy beaches and go for a swim. Historic city walls from the Thirty Years’ War add charm to the island.

Day 5: Day trip to Poel Island | 25 km + Boat

A boat takes you right from Wismar to Poel island. Once there, follow the circular tour around the entire island, which tempts you with long, beautiful sandy beaches and a dip into the cool wet blue. You can return either by boat or leave Poel by its dam by bike and cycle the 10 km to Wismar.

Day 6: Wismar – Bad Doberan | 45 km + Train

On the way to Kühlungsborn, cliffs and beautiful beaches alternate along your path, offering great views and swimming opportunities. Get on the steam train called “Molli”, to Bad Doberan, where stroll through the English park, Kamp.

Day 7: Bad Doberan – Rostock | 40 km

On the way to Warnemünde, you cycle through the „haunted forest“ – woods that got their name because of the weird and wonderful shapes of the trees. You soon reach Warnemünde, where you can relax on the widest expanse of beach on the Baltic coast. Follow the Warnow river to Rostock.

Day 8: Rest Day in Rostock

Today you‘re spoiled for choice in Rostock. Bring your cycling holiday to an end on the beach and visit MSC Seal Research Centre Hohe Düne, home of twelve harbour seals, two sea lions and a fur seal.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, you start your individual return journey home or extend your stay.
