Spain wins our top place to go in 2025

Felicidades to all our Spanish friends, from hoteliers to wine makers, Gomerans to Galicians, for making 2025 a very Spanish celebration for our natural adventurers. It proved to be the top place to go again, which is why we have also been putting a lot of energy into creating an exciting collection of TNA Specials in Spain. It’s a big country though, and so sometimes it’s hard to know where to start looking for a cycling or walking holiday. Taking a look at the top holidays in Spain from its vast tapas of treats, is always a good starting point.

Our top holidays in Spain in 2025

There is no doubt that there are some regular favourites that keep shining year after year. Not surprisingly, our Camino de Santiago tours continue to be worshipped by many, and the five star reviews just keep coming. Catalonia and the Costa Brava just keep giving gorgeousness, and Andalucía’s cultural and natural jewels never stop glistening. Here are just a few more details of top holidays in Spain from across its mainland and islands, based on feedback, five-stars and new adventures that are rapidly becoming five-star favourites. For example, Spain continues to be one of our favourites with solo travellers.

Top solo walking holidays in Spain

Camino Portugues

The majority of our camino tours are geared up towards solo travellers, but the Camino Portugues is proving to be a firm favourite at the moment, perhaps because it is less crowded than some of the traditional caminos during peak season. The Camino Portugues, or Portuguese Way’s pilgrims have carved out two separate caminos en route to Santiago over the years: an inland one called the Central Way versus the Coastal Way, both taking you into the green gorgeousness of Galicia. They take two weeks, staying in two or three star hotels and small locally owned accommodations, or you can just opt for walking the last 100km between Baiona and Santiago or Tui to Santiago so that you still get your Compostela Certificate.

And if you are contemplating this camino solo, here are some words of Grace:

“You have made my bookings and arrangements seem so easy. I’m 77 years old, travelling alone, and you have resolved any worries or queries I’ve had. I’m very grateful and my daughter also, as I shall be far from home. A gold star!” – Grace Helen-Benson, Camino Portugues: Central Way tour

Camino Frances – Last 100km

Choose your pace between 12, seven or eight days to walk this final 100km section, self-guided, of the Camino Frances, otherwise known as the French Way, because it starts in France. Although we have many other Camino Frances options, including the Complete Camino Frances, it’s this section between Sarria and Santiago de Compostela Cathedral that steals the limelight. And in case you don’t know it already, 100km is the minimum distance that you need to do to get your sought after Compostela Certificate.

Camino del Norte

There are five stages to the Camino del Norte, otherwise known as The Northern Way, which clings to the Basque Country, Cantabrian, Asturian and Galician coasts, then heads inland to Santiago. Compared with the Camino Frances, this route is quieter but a good bit more challenging. In 2025, it’s the first stage, between San Sebastián and Bilbao, that proved most popular. This is often because many people, not just solo travellers, are just warming up for the ‘camino completo’. And then when they see that we are with them all the way, they plan their next section. The camino is a place for solo contemplation, and people always come back for more.

When you travel solo with the camino scallop, the world opens up in so many ways.

What is the most beautiful hike in Spain?

We are often asked this question, and of course, it’s so subjective. However, based on our regular five-star reviews, here are some of the beauties that are regularly noticed on Spain’s catwalk of colossal hikes. Which is why for these hiking holidays, we’re going to let our adventurers tell you why. In addition, we have a blog that’s dedicated to the most beautiful day hikes in Spain

Walking holidays in Málaga

“We went as a small walking group of six retired friends. The welcome and accommodation provided was excellent. Gustav helped us throughout our trip. The walks were quite challenging in places, but well worth the effort. We were rewarded with stunning scenery every day. We will definitely be returning in the future.” – Jane from Yorkshire on our centre-based walking holiday in Málaga, based in Canillas de Albaida. One of the hikes on this tour also features in our Best hikes in Spain blog. For all our walking holidays in Málaga, see here.

Walking the GR131 in Gran Canaria

“My husband and I had a lovely week walking from Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria to Puerto de las Nieves in the North. The scenery was spectacular and varied, with big gorges, pine woodland and sea views. The accommodation varied from a hotel with a spa to a small hostel. All were comfy and provided breakfast.” – Katrin from The New Forest on our GR131 trail holiday, the most mountainous of the Canary Islands.

Hiking in Catalonia

“What a wonderful week! Beautiful hikes through woodlands and open meadows, complete with wildflowers, waterfalls and stunning mountain views. The villages were charming, the hotels were lovely, and the food delicious…The folks at The Natural Adventure were more than helpful throughout; they provided clear directions for every hike and helpful information on the region. A great experience, and one to do again.” – Beth from Paris on our hiking trip over the High Pyrenees in Catalonia. For all our tours in Catalonia, see here

Walking in the Picos de Europa Mountains

“I’ve backpacked in many amazing places and each adventure required extensive planning. Then I discovered The Natural Adventure. They planned my trip thoroughly and thoughtfully for an affordable rate. I was provided an extensive itinerary, multiple ways to track my route, trail and luggage transfers, rooms, and meals. I highly recommend The Natural Adventure. I am looking ahead to my next adventure with them.” – 2 Hikers from California, whose photos of their Picos de Europa Highlights holiday say it all.

Walking in La Gomera and Garajonay National Park

“La Gomera is a beautiful island and getting to know it on foot is a wonderful experience. There were four of us aged from 28 to 61 and we felt the package had lots to offer if you enjoy this type of activity. The walks were well balanced and took us through magnificent countryside with incredibly majestic views. Overall a great week of walking over uneven, harsh terrain, with inspiring views and scrumptious food. Full marks to Hannah and the team at The Natural Adventure.” – Bufandboy from Gibraltar on our Walking in La Gomera holiday, the greenest member of the Canarian family, in particular in Garajonay National Park.

Adiós 2025

As the year closes, we will leave you with the words of Laurie Lee, author of the iconic book, As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning. Few people capture the regional wonders of Spain like Laurie Lee, even if his journey by foot from north to south took place in the 1930s. Although judging from our traveller reviews, many of you had similar sentiments to his about Spain: “I felt it was for this I had come: to wake at dawn on a hillside and look out on a world for which I had no words.”
