Strenuous walking holidays

Strenuous walking holidays The Natural Adventure 2

These are the toughies but goodies, heading for some of the world’s most magnificent summits, taking on ambitious yet glorious trails, which may take months of training to prepare for. Many of them are guided, either in small groups or privately-guided, to ensure that you are in safe hands as you take on the trek of a lifetime. Because that’s what our strenuous walking holidays are all about. From the Isle of Skye to island hopping in Cape Verde, hiking the GR20 and GR10, or taking on epics such as Mount Aconcagua or the Snowman Trek in Bhutan, strenuous always means stupendous.

How do we define strenuous walking holidays?

In terms of our difficulty grades, on our strenuous tours you walk on average 8-10h per day, sometimes covering over 30km, although that depends on the terrain of course. In very high mountain terrain, the distance may be less, but the ascents make them feel a lot longer. They are suitable for very experienced hikers with a high level of fitness and navigation skills are also required, if you aren’t going with a guide.

As well as daily steep ascents and descents over rough and varied terrain in high mountain regions, the trails may include some exposed areas, fixed ropes and scrambling. As well as all of those elevations, expect plenty of elation and escapism along the way.
