Overview
For keen hikers, Ladakh is one of the most uplifting India tours, not only because of its stark and stunning Himalayan landscapes, but also because of the region’s spiritual and ancient cultural heritage. Located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, all of our India tours are privately guided, and range from moderate hiking terrain through hidden valleys and monasteries, staying in local homestays, to more strenuous treks in the Zanskar Range, or up to the elevated peaks between Leh and Shyok, both with a mix of camping and small guest houses en route.
No matter which tour you opt for, although you may prepare carefully for the trekking aspects, nothing prepares you for the deeply touching welcome by Ladakhi people, and the exhilaration felt at natural wonders like Digger La (5,300m), Pangong Tso, the world’s largest high-altitude salt lake (4,400 m) or spiritual havens such as Likir Monastery monastery perched at an almost ethereal 3,650m.
