The climate in the Western Rhodopes is temperate continental with an average 200 days of sunshine a year. Depending on location and altitude, temperatures vary, but, in the May-September period, the daily averages are 20 – 25C. Spring and autumn are pleasant in the Rhodopes with cold nights and occasional rain. High summer daytime temperatures are rarely too hot as even though temperatures can occasionally reach 30C, the mountains and forests remain cooler, dropping at night to 12-18C. The Rhodopes are recognised as having some of the purest air in Europe.

Having arrived home last night I just wanted to let you know how pleased we were with everything on our week in Bulgaria.

The variety of hotels was very interesting and enjoyable, and the hospitality of our hosts in each impeccable - although occasionally challenging with our lack of Bulgarian and some lack of English (the Mursal). A particular mention goes to Dimitar at the Renaissance in Plovdiv, who could not have been more helpful. The transfers all worked smoothly, and, perhaps most importantly, the walking was excellent - even with the afternoon thunder storms - and the routes clearly explained (we didn’t get lost once, which is unusual for us)

All in all The Natural Adventure Company was very efficient and helpful from beginning to end, so thank you. We would recommend you to anyone.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! Most Memorable Part - the kids absolutely loved Horse Riding in Trigrad and the spa at Shiroka Laka.  For me my most enjoyable day was walking from Yagodina to Trigrad through the mountains.  The path was good, the scenery was amazing and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The aqua park at Devin is highly recommended and was very reasonable - we cut our walking short to spend half a day here which was an added bonus for all - especially the kids. [...] The booking process was faultless and everything went to plan and was explained in detail.  No issues there. The hotels and accommodation were all outstanding, each was different with it's own characteristics and we liked them all.  The rooms were clean and comfortable we had no issues with 3 sharing and the food was good at each.  We did have a minor issue at the Persenk Hotel and Spa in Devin but I would say this was mainly due to certain personnel and I am happy to say that it was resolved in a satisfactory manner by hotel management and as such did not impact on our overall experience. The transfers were exceptional or driver Kotse was amazing and was great with the kids, we enjoyed his company and he was always polite and punctual.  The holiday would not be the same had we not had him!!!  Top marks. Our taxi transfer from Plovdiv to Sofia on the last day was also amazing as the driver went over and above to make me and the kids comfortable - well done again! Overall we all absolutely loved the holiday.  As a family we were able to spend time together doing different activities which we all loved. It was all very relaxed as other than the planned walk from Yagodina to Trigrad all other walks were optional.  There was plenty of time to relax in the evenings and I think all hotels had wi-fi which kept the kids happy. My children really enjoyed the variety we had 6 different hotels some with spa facilities, there were water parks, Jeep rides and horse riding in addition to the glorious weather and phenomenal scenery. Throughout our holiday I posted pictures on FB for family and friends back home and the response to these was amazing everyone commented on the weather and beautiful scenery and that we looked like we were having a fantastic time - which we did!!! I would recommend this type of holiday to anyone and would definitely consider doing more in the future. Many thanks to all at The Natural Adventure Company and Responsible Travel for providing us with such an experience and a holiday of a lifetime which we will never forget.

We feel positive about the trip and appreciated your prompt help on every occasion it was asked for.

[...] We particularly liked Hotel Mursal and the one at Trigrad. The walks were all beautiful and easy to follow and we really enjoyed them. People we met everywhere were friendly. Your drivers were great. Really it was a lovely holiday and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company or use it again in the future.
