Overview for Corfu Trail Early Spring and Late Autumn Special

While our core Corfu itineraries are available in May, June, September and October (it is too hot for walking in July and August), we are receiving numerous enquiries about walking the Corfu Trail in off season months. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to offer accommodation along the Corfu Trail from late October until May, as most hotels situated on the trail are closed during this period.

Therefore, we decided to develop a special programme for walking in Corfu in late October, November, March and April. It is a one-week moderate walking itinerary, with accommodation on Bed & Breakfast basis in Corfu Town, and four days of walking along the Corfu Trail with short daily return transfers from the hotel to the Trail.

Having four walks in one week will enable us to shift walking days in case of heavy rain or thunderstorms, which might occur at these times of the year. The two rest days you can spend walking in and around Corfu Town, visiting museums and/or the Achillion Palace (also perfect as a bad weather programme).

In order to avoid disappointment, it is important that you are aware of the variable weather conditions during these months and come prepared as weather is beyond our control. Having said that, having a few sunny days in row is not an exception!

Day 1: Arrival Corfu Town

Arrive at Corfu Airport and enjoy our complimentary transfer to your hotel. Meet our representative who will brief you on the walks and give you the maps and the documentation needed for your trip. You will spend all overnights in a nice 3-star quality hotel in Corfu Town.

Day 2: Stavros to Pelekas

Short transfer to Stavros. The second highest peak of Corfu is on the programme today, Agi Deka Mountain. Narrow and old footpaths will lead you through forests and an impressive landscape of huge limestone rocks. After the village of Ano Garouna you will climb up steeply to the summit of Agi Deka, where you have great views towards the south. You descend through a forest to the picturesque village of Agi Deka. After this descent, it is almost level walking to another picturesque village, Sinarades, from where you continue through the olive groves to Pelekas, located on a hilltop. Transfer back to Corfu Town.

  • Walking for the day: 18 km, 6 hours, 650 m ascent

Day 3: Pelekas to Liapades

After a transfer to Pelekas, today’s walk leads you through a variety of landscapes. Start out heading to one of the island’s loveliest beaches, where you can optionally visit a monastery. You then climb up to a viewpoint on the road to the small village of Vatos, before descending again towards the Ropa Valley, the agricultural fields in central Corfu. After some walking through this valley, your way goes up again through the old village of Giannades and endless olive groves to the steep and beautiful coast at Liapades. Transfer back to Corfu Town.

  • Walking for the day: 23 km, 7 hours, 600 m ascent

Day 4: Rest Day Corfu Town

Spend some time exploring Corfu Town and its surroundings on your own. This day can be shifted in case of bad weather during one of the default walking days.

Day 5: Liapades to Agios Georgios

Transfer to Liapades. A steep and rocky footpath brings you straight up from the beach of Liapades towards the old village of Lakones. Views over the west coast and Paleokastritsa are stunning. You walk on the road through Lakones and soon gain a view of Angelokastro, a Byzantine castle which served to protect the North of the island from pirate attacks. Coming out of an olive grove, you can optionally walk the extra 1 km (one way) to Angelokastro  for a worthwhile visit (calculate at least 1 extra hour). The next picturesque village you come through is Krini, and then you descend on tracks with breath-taking views to the beach at Agios Georgios. Transfer back to Corfu Town.

  • Walking for the day: 14 km, 4-5 hours, 350 m ascent

Day 6: The Northeast Coast and Mountain Flanks

Today’s walk is a circular one from Kalami. After a transfer to Kalami, you start along and above the beautiful north western coastline. After Agni Beach, you ascend on a footpath to the village of Kentroma. From here, you continue uphill on ancient cobbled footpaths to reach the small village of Porta. Your way continues through an oak tree filled valley and then uphill to the abandoned village of Mengoulas. This is the highest point of today’s walk, from Mengoulas you descend on deserted tracks with beautiful views over the Northwest coast and Albania. Eventually, old cobbled footpaths will bring you further down to Nissaki. After a short walk on the main road, you descend to Kaminaki Beach and by the beaches of Krouzeri and Agni you head on footpaths above the coast back to Kalami. Transfer to Corfu Town.

  • Walking for the day: 15.5 km; 5-6 hours; 550 m ascent

Day 7: Rest Day Corfu Town

Spend some time exploring Corfu Town and its surroundings on your own. This day can be shifted in case of bad weather during one of the default walking days.

Day 8: Departure or Onward Travel

Return home or individual stay extension. Complimentary transfer to Corfu Airport is included.
