Types of self-guided walking holidays
Our self guided hiking holidays are normally based on the following types:
Hikes from hotel to hotel (most commonly between villages), where we arrange the baggage transfers while you walk. Should longer distances be involved we also arrange your transport by private transfer. Our hotel-to-hotel self-guided walking holidays are the perfect way to immerse in the nature, culture, and history of the region.
These walks are based on a circular/loop type format, where you depart from and arrive back at the same hotel. This type of trips does not require baggage transfers.
Cabin to cabin
On specific holidays (usually moderate to strenuous such as Mount Olympus in Greece) some nights’ accommodation can only be at mountain huts (refuges). The ones we select provide clean accommodation with basic amenities and in many cases shared facilities. As there are no roads between these refuges and therefore are no baggage transfers available, it is necessary to bring a backpack along. Please note it is also possible to bring a normal case for the holiday and pack a smaller backpack inside it. This will allow you to leave the case at your base hotel and take only those belongings required for the overnights in mountain huts.
All accommodation offered with The Natural Adventure’s trips is hand-picked and regularly tested by members of our team. You can rest assured you will be returning to a comfortable hotel at the end of your day’s journey.
The types of accommodation we offer:
4 * Spa hotels
Along route on most of our itineraries we include 4-star spa hotels. They offer sauna, steam rooms, and massage salons. Some have contrast baths and mineral water swimming pools, both indoors and outdoors.
On all of our itineraries we include at least one 4-star hotel.
In more remote locations, where we believe the hiking includes spectacular views and nature, we stay in 3-star hotels or local guesthouses.
On very specific and unique moderate-strenuous routes we use selected mountain cabins. They are added to the list of accommodation for their cozy interiors and local feel.
In in more remote or specific locations, where we believe there is a genuine opportunity to experience a unique local flavour, we stay in local guest houses. This helps ensure that our clients are greeted with traditional hospitality, clean and comfortable rooms, and locally sourced fresh food.
City hotels are mostly used on arrival and departure days. Normally these are 4-star or good quality 3-star hotels, conveniently located in city centres within easy reach of sightseeing areas, local restaurants, and shops.
Please refer to the specific trip page for further information on the daily accommodation for each trip.
